Dharan Forests
Collectiv ely known as Dharan forests to the outsiders, in
Nepal, it is known as Charkoshe jhadi of east Nepal. One of
the most importa nt forest habitats in Nepal, such forest
type is not found in any protected area of lowland Nepal.
Now highly fragmented and under heavy pressure from the ever
growing Nepal's population, this forest is in continuous
threat from being vanished.
Small-scale
st udies have been conducted and several
research and conservation NGOs have given pressure to the
government to declare this forest as protected.
Birds seen here include, Jerdon's and Black Bazas,
Abbott's Babbler, Dark-sided Thrush, Wedge-billed
Wren-Babbler etc. |
