Dharan Forests

Collectively known as Dharan forests to the outsiders, in Nepal, it is known as Charkoshe jhadi of east Nepal. One of the most important forest habitats in Nepal, such forest type is not found in any protected area of lowland Nepal. Now highly fragmented and under heavy pressure from the ever growing Nepal's population, this forest is in continuous threat from being vanished.

Small-scale studies have been conducted and several research and conservation NGOs have given pressure to the government to declare this forest as protected.

Birds seen here include, Jerdon's and Black Bazas, Abbott's Babbler, Dark-sided Thrush, Wedge-billed Wren-Babbler etc.
